Steven Carl McCasland's THE HALLS OF IMPORTANCE to Appear in Venus/Adonis Festival
Inspired by an actual photograph, McCasland's original play imagines a 60-year love affair between two men - Tommy and Buzz - and the lives that their love touches. From an overbearing mother to a Shakespearean actor, the play weaves an intricate and bravely imagined tale. Jumping between the 1950's and present day, The Halls Of Importance is a touching and gripping look at loss and love.
The production features Danny Blanda as Buzz, Laurie Sammeth as Shirley (and other roles), William Shuman as Thomas, Vanessa Spica as Claire, Ellyn Stein as Alice and Shawn Verrier as Arthur. Additional casting will be announced at a later date.
Steven Carl McCasland is the critically acclaimed playwright of Little Wars, What Was Lost, neat & tidy, Shades Of Blue: The Decline and Fall of Lady Day and more. He received the Huntington Playwriting Prize for his play Pulchritudinous and has seen his work performed in New York and Pennsylvania.
The Venus/Adonis Festival is a 3-month festival of new plays for playwrights created by playwrights. All plays are presented at New York's Hudson Guild Theater. Tickets for the production ($23) are available at http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/2463572.
