SketchFest NYC Announces International Comedy Festival at The Upright Brigade Theater, 6/9 - 11
SketchFest NYC is pleased to announce that this year's Festival will be once again held at The Upright Citizens Brigade Theater in New York City. This marks the fifth year the Festival will be held at NYC's premiere comedy theater. SketchFest NYC returns June 9-11, with performances, panels, and more events to be announced soon.
"We're very happy to host SketchFest NYC again this year," said UCB Artistic Director Anthony King. "Like the swallows of San Juan Capistrano, we have no idea where the sketch groups go all year, but each June they find their way back. And we're always thrilled to have them build their dirt nests at the UCB Theatre."
"We've had great success holding the Festival at UCB the past few years, so we're extremely excited to return for year seven," added SketchFest NYC Executive Producer Alex Zalben. "Like the Harry Potter movies, in Year Seven... The End Begins Here. No, wait, that's not right."
The last six years of the Festival have been a huge success, featuring over a hundred different sketch comedy groups from across North America, sold-out shows, standing ovations, and industry attendance from ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, HBO, MTV, VH1, IFC, Fuse, Comedy Central, Nickelodeon, TV Land/Nick at Nite, Discovery Channel, Just For Laughs, Miramax, Tribeca Films, William Morris, ICM and many more.
The Seventh Annual Festival will be held June 9-11, 2011, and is currently sponsored by The Onion, The Sound of Young America, and UCB Comedy, with more sponsors to be announced soon.
