OFF OFF BROADWAY SHORT PLAY FESTIVAL will feature a selection of 40 short plays and musicals chosen from hundreds of scripts submitted by playwriting workshops, university theatre programs, professional companies and self-producing playwrights both in the US and abroad.

The 36th Annual Samuel French, Inc. OFF OFF BROADWAY SHORT PLAY FESTIVAL will take place on July 19th - 24th at the Lion Theatre in Theatre Row (410 W. 42nd Street). This week-long festival features a full program of the selected plays and musicals performed for a panel
of judges comprised of well-known Playwrights, Literary Agents, and Artistic Directors who nominate one or more of each evening's plays as finalists. Out of these finalists, six winners will be chosen by Samuel French, Inc. to receive publication and licensing contracts.

The Samuel French OFF OFF BROADWAY SHORT PLAY FESTIVAL started in 1975 and is one of Manhattan's most prestigious short play festivals. Hundreds of theatre companies and schools have participated in the Festival's past first thirty-five years, including organizations from across the United States and abroad. This Festival has served as a doorway to future success for many aspiring writers. Over the years, 192 submitted plays have been published, and many of the participants have become established, award-winning playwrights. Past Festival participants include Theresa Rebeck, Shirley Lauro, Bekah Brunstetter, Steve Yockey, David Johnston, Saviana Stanuscu, and Sheila Callaghan. For more information about the Festival, plays, playwrights and
