Pipeline Theatre Company Presents Felix & The Diligence 9/24

By:

Pipeline Theatre Company kicks off their third season with the world premiere of FELIX & THE DILIGENCE, Or A Play About Fishermen in the 1940's, a new comedy by Colby Day, directed by artistic director Daniel Johnsen. The production opens on Saturday, September 24 at The Connelly Theater (220 E 4th St) and runs until October 8th.

Remember when you were a young, bookish dreamer, growing up during World War II, just waiting for your chance to fish for cod? Relive that adventure, with all the love, loss, and bright-eyed optimism that it entailed. Fall in love with mermaids, chat with sea monsters, and fight Nazi spies in the greatest play about fishermen in the 1940's you'll ever see. Felix & The Diligence is an R-rated comedy that will also appeal to your Walt Disney loving inner child, as it tells the story of how difficult it is to grow up without losing your sense of wonder and joy in the world around you.

There will be a Pay-What-You-Can performance on Tuesday September 27th. A day-of donation at the box office is valid for admission, on a first-come, first-served basis, subject to availability*.

This is the beginning of Pipeline Theatre Company's third season. Pipeline has produced full-length new works as well as plays by authors as varied as Bekah Brunstetter, Charles Busch, Timberlake Wertenbaker, and Bertolt Brecht. Pipeline was just awarded a New York Innovative Theater Award for Original Music by Cormac Bluestone for their production of The Caucasian Chalk Circle, directed by Anya Saffir. The Caucasian Chalk Circle also received a Special Citation for Outstanding Off-Off Broadway Show from the Independent Theater Bloggers Association.

Alongside their mainstage productions, Pipeline has produced many short films under the moniker Pipeline Photoplays, multiple evenings dedicated to the development of new works, and recently launched a sketch comedy troupe. Tony-Nominated Actor, and former Pipeline director, Peter Frechette said "there's no doubt this is a company of theater artists that are in it for the long haul. Their work is exceptionally fine across the board."

An art exhibition, curated by Pipeline, will be featured in the lobby of The Connelly Theater throughout the duration of the run of Felix & The Diligence, entitled "Hung Up," curated by Ari Schrier and Chris Ams.
