Photo Flash: First Look at BOY GETS GIRL at The Seeing Place

By: Jul. 24, 2015

The Seeing Place is currently presenting BOY GETS GIRL, a searing and thought-provoking play by Rebecca Gilman about the dangers of stalking. BroadwayWorld has a first look at the cast onstage below!

The play follows Theresa Bedell, a successful reporter who polite "no" to dating Tony turns into a terrifying look at what happens when someone can't take no for an answer. "It's an important play - named Time Magazine's 'Best Play of the Year' in 2000," says director Brandon Walker, "and we're very proud of what our artists have been able to do with this production."

About BOY GETS GIRL - Theresa Bedell is a successful reporter in New York who loves her work and the life she has made for herself. A relationship with a man would complete the picture and so she agrees to go on a blind date with a friend of a friend. Tony is attractive and funny, but Theresa isn't sure, and after a second date she's convinced they have nothing in common and sees no point in continuing the relationship. Tony, though, thinks otherwise. What at first seems like persistence on his part grows into obsession, and Theresa's annoyance with Tony turns to terror as he begins to threaten her and those around her. Ultimately, Theresa must fight to save herself from being erased by Tony's actions which call into question the assumptions at the very heart of romantic pursuit.

Cast/Creative Team for BOY GETS GIRL: Erin Cronican (Theresa), John D'Arcangelo (Les), Einar Gunn (Howard), Virginia Gregory (Beck), Emily Newhouse (Harriet), Daniel Michael Perez (Tony), and Brandon Walker (Mercer.) Stage Management by Candice Oden. Assistant Direction by Michelle Hakala Wolf. Lighting Design by Duane Pagano. Directed by Brandon Walker.
