Performance Added for Sharon Abreu's THE CLIMATE MONOLOGUES 11/18

By:

Following a sold-out initial performance, a performance has been added on November 18th at 9:00pm for Sharon Abreu's show, The Climate Monologues, at Theatre Row, 410 W. 42nd Street in Manhattan as part of the United Solo Theatre Festival. The show runs approximately one hour.

Abreu created The Climate Monologues after meeting people whose stories she was moved to share. These powerful true stories celebrate the human spirit while exploring solutions to the greatest challenge of our time. Heart, humor and inspiration resound through personal stories, accented by original songs, from passionate "everyday" people moved to action by climate change or fossil fuel energy in their lives and communities. Family, friendship and faith transform challenges into opportunities. The show is most appropriate for ages 11 through adult.

A native New Yorker now living in Washington State, Abreu received the "Spirit of Nature, Ecology & Society" Environmental Justice Award for one of her first performances of The Climate Monologues at the City University of New York's Culture of Climate Change Colloquium in 2011. Abreu started using her voice and music for environmental education after joining the Hudson River Sloop Clearwater. In 2002, she started the nonprofit Irthlingz Arts-Based Environmental Education with her partner, Michael Hurwicz. Their musical revue, Penguins on Thin Ice, was performed at the United Nations in 2007 for the U.N. Commission on Sustainable Development. Abreu has sung at the U.N., the World Summit for Sustainable Development in South Africa, for Nobel Peace Prize winner Wangari Maathai, and in concert with Pete Seeger.

2016 United Solo, the world's largest solo theatre festival, currently in its 7th year, will present 120 shows from six continents at Theatre Row: 410 West 42nd Street, New York City.
