Patrick Pacheco Hosts Premiere Of “Theater: All The Moving Parts” Streaming On CUNY TV Image

The television station of the City University of New York (CUNY TV) is proud to announce the launch of a new monthly theater interview program, THEATER: All the Moving Parts. The show, hosted by veteran journalist and commentator Patrick Pacheco, will debut on March 15, 2019, at 9:30 pm with Theresa Rebeck ("Downstairs", "Bernhardt/Hamlet") as the inaugural guest. It will also be streaming at tv.cuny.edu so that anyone can watch it online.

THEATER: All the Moving Parts will feature in-depth interviews with myriad artists, including directors, choreographers, writers, designers, composers, and others - all the often unheralded professionals behind the scenes who are crucial to the success of any stage production. Pacheco will delve deep not only into the intricacies of craft but also elicit from his guests the personal histories and individual passions that drive their unique artistic achievements.

Says Pacheco, "I'm thrilled and honored to participate in this new program devoted to celebrating the work of bold and dedicated theater artists. The hope is that it will inspire others to bring their talents to the respective disciplines, aware of the rigorous demands and sacrifices as well as the special rewards."

In the course of the interview, Rebeck talks about the cost of being a writer, "the heartbreak, the confusion...so many things can go wrong." She recalls what she once told her students: "Being a playwright will ruin your life. So if you're going to do this, then make it count. Write about something big. Make it epic. Leave blood on the floor."

Patrick Pacheco is an Emmy-winning commentator and journalist whose work has appeared in The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, The Wall Street Journal, Esquire.com, and many other periodicals. He wrote the 2009 Disney documentary Waking Sleeping Beauty and is the co-writer, with Maria Cassi, of the play, My Life with Men...and Other Animals. He is the writer and editor of the Amazon best seller American Theatre Wing, An Oral History: 100 Years, 100 Voices, 100 Million Miracles.
