New Play TY REX Will Have Abridged Reading With Autism Inclusive Cast And Crew
Thursday, April 18th, 730 Slightly Altered States theater company and DMNDR at The Arc will be presenting a landmark abridged reading of Sari Caine's new play, Ty Rex. Ty Rex is the first autism inclusive production from creative to cast. There will be a talkback after. Use code AUTISMinclusion here Ty Rex tic for free tic.
As always at the Arc, there is a local food and live music pairing available- for Ty Rex, we collaborated with Bareburger (pre-order only) and music will be provided by the DMNDR house band. Doors open at 6:30 for music. Talkback guests include Priscilla Gilman (The Anti-Romantic Child), special needs educators, autism advocacy organizations, and our neuro diverse cast and crew.
The Arc and Slightly Altered States are committed to changing the way autism is portrayed in media and entertainment; this will be the first of many events to spearhead change through media and art. It is time for autistic individuals to helm the stories told about them -and time for more of their stories to be told. In keeping with "nothing about us without us," our talented autistic colleagues are collaborating with SAS and The Arc to control their own narrative.
The abridged reading of Ty Rex is an opportunity for our audience to engage with the creative process, and for our team to hold real dialogue with Ty Rex's first audience. We hope you'll be able to attend and look forward to hearing your candid thoughts on the direction of the work and this important discussion.
Looking forward to seeing you at The Arc 36-30 36th street one block from the M/R train at 36th street, 2nd stop into Queens.
