NYU Steinhardt Produces The Class Project, Oct. 24 thru Nov. 2 at Black Box Theatre
The Program in Educational Theatre at New York University will present an original interview theatre production, The Class Project, from October 24 through November 2 at the Black Box Theatre, 82 Washington Square East. Friday and Saturday performances begin at 8 p.m.; Sunday performances begin at 3 p.m. Tickets are $10 general admission and $5 with valid NYU ID. The public can call 212.998.5281 to make ticket reservations.Inspired by the work of such playwrights as Anna Deveare Smith (University Professor at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts) and Moises Kaufman, The Class Project, explores current perceptions of class and socioeconomic status among people living and working in New York City. A group of seven researchers/actors, under the guidance of Educational Theatre faculty member Joe Salvatore, interviewed a diverse range of subjects, from academics, students, business owners, immigrants, public school teachers, and more, on their understanding of how class affects their day-to-day lives. The interviews were pieced together to create the performance script.
