NOTES TO WHEREVER, A Benefit For The Actors Fund Of America, Comes to the Cherry Lane Theatre Image

Notes to Wherever, written and performed by Judy Frank, will have a limited run at the Cherry Lane Theatre December 11 - 22. The performances are a benefit for The Actors Fund. Kathryn Markey directs. Notes to Wherever was cited for Excellence in playwrighting by the Kaufman Award.

Judy Frank is a National Ambassador and has been a member of The Actors Fund since 1969. She discussed her connection with the organization, "The Actors Fund is family when an actor needs one. I love the optimism of the Fund and their deep respect for those in the profession." She went on to say, "When, on the first national tour I did as a young woman, my wallet with the week's paycheck in cash was stolen from my hotel dressing room, the cast and crew replaced wallet and money with the instruction not to repay them. Fortunately, since then I've been able to be on the giving end of things, but I've never forgotten the kindness of those actors as exemplified by the Actors Fund."

After the death of her husband of forty years, a woman continues to share her life with him through notes - until this night, in a gesture of letting go, she decides to read them aloud.

Performances take place at the Cherry Lane Theatre, 38 Commerce Street (three blocks south of Christopher Street), New York, NY 10014. Subway: 1 to Christopher Street. Running time: 90 minutes.

Judy Frank (Playwright/Performer) has appeared on Broadway, off-Broadway, and in films and commercials. She has even worked on an honest to goodness traveling showboat. As a writer, two of her novels have been published by the Dial Press and honored by Breadloaf, the oldest writer's conference in America. Now for the first time she combines acting and writing as she presents "Notes to Wherever", which was cited for excellence in playwriting by the Kaufman Award. She is particularly pleased to present "Notes" to benefit of The Actors' Fund of America, for which she serves as a National Ambassador.

Kathryn Markey (Director) shared the stage with Judy Frank years ago and is honored to be shepherding this production. She has directed at the University of Pittsburgh, The Woman Playwrights Initiative at Ivoryton Playhouse, Mason Street Warehouse, Ocean State Theatre, Axelrod PAC, New London Barn, Cortland Rep, The Depot, and the White Plains PAC. She has 14 seasons at Saint Michael's Playhouse and is the resident director for "In Your Face New York" at St. Ann's Warehouse & Merkin Concert Hall. Her performing credits span NY, regional and international stages, and she is the creator of the satirical country band "The Chalks." www.kathrynmarkey.com
