THE Modern Stage is please to annoucne an additional 3 weeks for performances for "MIRACLE DAY," a new play written and directed by TOM SIME, Writer in Residence at 45 Bleecker in New York. This romantic comedy-drama is a bittersweet story about extreme happiness-and what comes after. The production features Adam Smith, Kristina Olson, Damian Maffei and MARCELLA GOHEEN. The action is interwoven with an original rock score composed and played live by Vern Woodhead and YANA DAVYDOVA of the Brooklyn band THE EPICURES. "MIRACLE DAY" opens Monday, May 10th at 8:15pm and runs Mondays and Tuesdays at 8:15 pm through June 15th. All tickets are $21.50. For resevations call (212) 239-6200 or visit Telecharge.com. In "MIRACLE DAY" Matthew (Adam Smith), a successful young artist, falls under the spell of a new pill that seems to drive his sexuality, creativity and career to new heights. Only later, after Matthew has introduced his friends and fiancée to the drug, do its buzz-killing side effects emerge. But was it worth it? And how do you settle for ordinary life after you've touched the divine? Miracle Day includes adult language and situations, and is recommended for mature audiences (17 and up). "MIRACLE DAY" is a sponsored project of Fractured Atlas, the nonprofit arts funding organization.

Pre Production of "MIRACLE DAY" will be documented by associate producer/assistant director Jonathan Reed WEXLER in "Stage Life", a web TV series. A preview can be seen athttp://themodernstage.com/. Playwright and director TOM SIME has written eight full-length and numerous short plays. ALL OF THE ABOVE won the Peterson Emerging Playwright Competition at Catawba College in Salisbury, North Carolina, and was produced there in 2006, and KLUTZ THEORY won the first Stage West Texas Playwrights Competition in 2007. Tom's company The Modern Stage was founded in Dallas in 2007, and teamed up with producers Sandi and Joe Black to produce two of his plays in New York: the comedy MY FAVORITE ANIMAL at the 45th Street Theatre in 2008, and the thriller BLOODLETTERS at 45 Bleecker in 2009. Tom's one-act comedy EX'S EXES was produced by the Attic Theatre and Film Center in Los Angeles in summer 2008. In Dallas Tom spent ten years at The Dallas Morning News and three years as Managing Director of Contem! porary Theatre Of Dallas. In January 2009, he was named Writer in Residence at New York's 45 Bleecker. BLOODLETTERS, co-produced by the Modern Stage and the Blacks, will return for a full-scale off-Broadway run in 2011.

Adam Smith who plays Matthew starred in the rock opera SEDUCTION by Salvatore Caesar Scordato in Las Vegas, co-produced and directed BLOODLETTERS by Tom Sime, and directed five pieces in the "Oh. Nine" reading series by Sime, all in 2009. He has worked extensively in regional theater in musicals, plays and educational tours all over the United States and Canada, including the role of J. P. Morgan in RAGTIME at Playhouse on the Square in Memphis. Adam serves as Department Head and Director of Public Relations for The Oklahoma Shakepearean Festival, where he also performed the role of Feste in TWELFTH NIGHT last summer. Other recent New York credits include multiple roles in THE MERCHANT OF VENICE and lead roles in Dean Poynor's LOSING SLEEP (with MIRACLE D! AY co-star Kristina Olson) and Tom Diriwachter's AVOID DIRECT SUNLIGHT, all for American Theatre Of Actors. TV credits include "30 Rock." Adam has trained in conservatory, university and with the late Paul Sills. He is currently working with writer Jordan Auslander on a new work, FEEDBACK!, a short and quirky solo play.
