Late-Night Sandbox Series Continues at Playing with Reality Tonight, 10/20

Late-Night Sandbox Series, presented by Playing with Reality and directed by Alyssa Northrop, runs every 3rd Saturday of the month (tonight, October 20, etc) at The Secret Theatre in Long Island City, New York (44-02 23rd Street).

LATE-NIGHT SANDBOX SERIES marks Playing with Reality’s second residency in as many number of years in existence and follows on the heels of The company’s successful run of JOURNEY ON: UNLEASH YOUR INNER HERO at the Secret Theatre. The audience watches, and gets the opportunity to voluntarily participate, in the 60-seat Little Theatre space. Utilizing improvisation in a whole new fashion that focuses on characters, relationships and story structure rather than comedy, Playing with Reality invites participants into a fascinating and surprising new realm of theatre.

With the mission to empower through interactive experiences, this New York-based interactive performance company invites audience members to perform on a professional stage. Supported by trained actors, interested volunteers (spect-actors) become co-creators as they embark on a theatrical adventure that is entirely unscripted. Imagine a choose-your-own-adventure story, created on the spot, which anyone can live.

Formed in 2010, Playing with Reality has held multiple productions and workshops in New York & Amsterdam. The group continues to develop forms where the play steps off the stage and into the real world while also creating interactive tools that contain benefits beyond pure entertainment.
