Tongue in Cheek Theater Productions (Jake Lipman, artistic director) announces its fourteenth season of thought-provoking comedies. Since its founding in 2006, TIC has produced 40 productions in New York City, showcasing a range of new and established works, on topics as diverse as interfaith romance, feminism, gender parity, LGBT rights, mental illness, and shifting family dynamics... and they're funny!

This spring, TIC presents:

TIC has been recognized throughout New York City for high-caliber theater at affordable prices. Highlights include: Two Puffin Foundation Ltd grants for the creation of new works Relentlessly Pleasant (2018) and Buffalo Heights (2014); Three Planet Award nominations for Ruby in the Planet Connections Theatre Fest 2018; Winner, Outstanding Supporting Actress (Maria Maloney), Buffalo Heights in the Planet Connections Theatre Fest 2017 (three other Planet Award nominations that year as well); World premiere of a stage adaptation of bestselling book The Inn at Lake Devine, based on the novel by Elinor Lipman (2015); NYC premieres: Books on Tape (FringeNYC) and Women Playing Hamlet, and Dead White Males (all by William Missouri Downs); TIC's 2010 production of Proof was nominated for a New York Innovative Theater Award for Outstanding Sound Design; Many of TIC's premieres of solo shows have gone on to festivals around the world, following their premieres in TIC's fourteen Plus 1 Solo Show Festivals since 2009.

Producing Artistic Director Jake Lipman received her Masters of Fine Arts from The Actors Studio Drama School at the New School and her Bachelor of Arts from Smith College. As an actor, she has toured nationally, appeared in New York theater, TV, and film, in addition to producing, writing, and directing.

In 2006, she formed Tongue in Cheek Theater Productions (TIC). As producing artistic director of TIC, she has produced 40 productions, curated 14 Plus 1 Solo Show Festivals, directed over 10 plays, including the world premiere of Relentlessly Pleasant, which she also wrote, devised Buffalo Heights (world premiere 2014, revived in the Planet Connections Fest 2017 with 4 Best in Fest nominations), adapted The Inn at Lake Devine from page to stage in 2015, and she often appears onstage in TIC's productions. www.JakeLipman.com
