LA LUZ DE UN CIGARRILLO (Ashes Of Light), written and directed by Marco Antonio Rodriguez (HOLA and ACE award for best play and direction) returns by popular demand for two weeks only at the Dominican Commission's Rafael Villalona Theatre in New York City.

LA LUZ DE UN CIGARRILLO (Ashes Of Light) stars HOLA winner and Emmy nominated actress (Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt - Best Ensemble, The Leftovers, Louie) Susanna Guzmán, Broadway, television and film veteran Teresa Yenque (HOLA and ACE lifetime achievement awards), Arisleyda Lombert (HOLA and ACE award, best supporting actress) and Juan Carlos Díaz (Off-Broadway hit La Barbería and a stage production based on the Harry Potter movies in Japan).

A mother's love knows no boundaries... Over the course of two evenings mother and son, two estranged generations of Dominicans living in the upper west side of Manhattan, attempt to rekindle the love and appreciation for each other and their roots; but unexpectedly revealed intimate and taboo secrets threaten to destroy an already thin bond. About Marco Antonio Rodríguez (Writer-Director) - Born and raised in New York City, with roots from the Dominican Republic, Marco Antonio is a graduate of LaGuardia High School For the Performing Arts in NYC and holds a Master of Fine Arts degree from Southern Methodist University. He has acted, written, produced and directed hits such as Pico de Gallo, Heaven Forbid(s)! (Named Outstanding New Play by The Dallas/Fort Worth Theater Critics Forum) and the Southwest Premiere of Rick Najera's Latinologues, which later moved on to Broadway. LA LUZ DE UN CIGARRILLO (Ashes Of Light), received an extended by popular demand run at New York's Off-Broadway LATEA theater, Lehman Stages and Dominican Republic's Teatro Las Máscaras. It will next be produced in Buenos Aires, Argentina. LA LUZ DE UN CIGARRILLO(Ashes Of Light) has been published in both Spanish and English editions by NoPassport Press and has been added for study to the University Of Puerto Rico Spanish department curriculum as well as the Spanish and Caribbean Studies Department Curriculum at Rutgers University in New Jersey. Marco Antonio is the recipient of the distinguished Cultural Arts & Entertainment Award given by The New York State Hispanic Court Officer's Society and a Banff Literary Centre Writing Residency in Alberta, Canada. . His most recent play, Barceló Con Hielo (Barceló On The Rocks), won the national MetLife Nuestras Voces Playwriting competition as well as 4 HOLA awards which include outstanding achievement in playwriting. Barceló On The Rocks is a semi-finalist of the Eugene O'Neill Theater Center's 2015 National Playwright's Conference, a finalist of the American Blues Theater Blue Ink Playwriting Award and enjoyed an extended run at New York's Repertorio Español.
