Horse Trade Announces Their Upcoming October Events

HORSE TRADE THEATER GROUP is a self-sustaining theater development group; with a focus on new work, it has produced a massive quantity of stimulating downtown theater. Horse Trade's Resident Artist Program offers a home to a select group of Independent Theater artists, pooling together a great deal of talent and energy. It is also the home of FRIGID New York - the first and only festival of its kind in New York City.

Dysfunctional Theatre Company presents
Brew of the Dead 2: Oktoberflesh
Sunday, October 31 at 4pm Pay-What-You-Will

In 2008, Brew of the Dead asked the question, "When the Apocalypse comes, will there be beer?" There was. Now, the much-anticipated sequel, Brew of the Dead 2: Oktoberflesh asks an even more important question, "If I'm a zombie, can I still get high?" This special, one night only staged reading features the original Brew of the Dead cast in an all new horror comedy experience full of brains, hallucinogens and undead drama.

The BTK Band performs their third annuAl Halloween spectacular, with new songs and costumes. Embracing their normal chaos, fifteen Frigid Festival 2011 participants are drawn at random during the show. Come witness Agony and Ecstasy at the hands of NYC's hardest-drinking improvised storytelling rock band. There will be beer. You will also have candy thrown at your face.

Rudi Macaggi The Acromedian

When Rudi Macaggi is on stage it's not just a show it's an event, an hour and 20 minutes of Music, Danger, and Acrobatic Genius, boasting four appearances on The Jay Leno Show in the last year, and described as "The most exciting, dangerous thing... ever on "Americas Got Talent" by Judge Piers Morgan. Catch Rudi live! ...and risking his life, every Wednesday night at 10:30pm.

Six playwrights and directors get a week and a half to write and rehearse a short play based around three conditions, a theme, and a pre-selected cast, and then its go time. Different playwrights and directors featured every month.

God Tastes Like Chicken

The brainchild of erotic balloon artist John Murdock, the cast of God Tastes Like Chicken serves up society's sacred cows medium rare, with improv, sketch comedy, stand-up, chickens, and heresy.

Moth storytelling favorite, Adam Wade, has put together many of his winning heartfelt and humorous stories for a special show. He'll also sing a few songs, and play video shorts. No two shows will be the same. A different featured guest will start the evening off. The BTK Band, NYC's hardest-drinking improvised storytelling rock band, will follow Adam. Raconteurs regale the audience with true stories from their lives while music and lyrics are improvised to turn their stories into songs. As if Tom Waits and The Moth delivered a baby from the gaping maw of Chaos.

Sketch Comedy meets Block Party. This monthly show features a guest host comedian, three guest sketch troupes and drinking. Come meet, mingle, and perform!

Cognac Live Radio Orchestra

An evening of themed storytelling

TOLD is a monthly storytelling show hosted by Seth Lind. Each month New York's best performers take the stage to tell true stories related to a central theme. A special guest provides interludes to glue the evening together into a collective experience.

Revealed Burlesque

Soul Glo

Soul Glo is a variety show starring the all African-American cast of Nobody's Token performing a completely improvised sitcom. The show also features multi-cultural stand-up and sketch comedy by some of the most talented underground comics in New York.

A Flawed Pursuit of Happiness

Tim Warner is one of the most brutally honest and vulnerable comedians working today. His material scrutinizes the outside world by sharing all the mistakes he has made in life. While focusing on his flaws, he breaks down the fourth wall and connects with audiences cautiously exposing his hope for humanity.
