Heiress Productions, a not-for-profit theatre company dedicated to raising awareness and funds for cancer organizations through live performance, is pleased to announce their Playwriting Competition finalists: The Treachery of Images by Andrew Bliss; Loss: A Play About a Violin by Elena Hartwell; and Thirds by Jacob M. Appel. Readings will be held May 5th, 12th and 19th at 7:30pm at Simple Studios, (134 W. 29th St, NYC).

Treachery of Images (May 5th) takes an interesting look at the double edged sword of forgiveness. After a young student is killed, her parents are torn apart, one consumed with anger and the other finding solace in forgiveness. Loss: A Play About a Violin (May 12th) examines a family struggling with the sacrifices of love and art. Thirds (May 19th) is a hilarious play about three sisters with different ideas about selling their childhood home.

Heiress Productions' Board Member and Head of the Playwriting Competition Committee, Morgan Baker, remarked, "We were very impressed with this year's submissions and are grateful for the opportunity to review a wide variety of works from such talented writers. The three finalists wrote works we felt examined themes relevant to Heiress' mission, and we are excited to share these pieces with New York audiences."

Heiress Productions presented the premiere of their last Playwriting Competition Grand Prize Winner, Critical Mass by Joanne Sydney Lessner, in October 2010 at The Lion Theatre at Theatre Row. Net proceeds from Critical Mass benefited the Lustgarten Foundation, an organization dedicated to advancing scientific and medical research related to the diagnosis, treatment, cure and prevention of pancreatic cancer.

Heiress Productions (www.heiressproductions.org) is a not-for-profit organization committed to raising cancer awareness and funds through entertaining and inspirational professional theatre productions. The company produced Lunch Hour by Jean Kerr in May 2007, James Sherman's farce Affluenza! in March 2008, Three Movements by Martin Zimmerman in October 2008, Mark Dunn's Belles: A play in two acts and forty-five phone calls in March 2009, and Joanne Sydney Lessner's Critical Mass in October/November 2010. The mission of Heiress Productions is to raise awareness and funds for all forms of cancer. Featured Cancer Partners are chosen for each production and receive a percentage of ticket sales income. Past Partners include: Gilda's Club NYC, Miracle House, UsTOO International Prostate Cancer Education and Support Network, Joes House, and the Lustgarten Foundation.
