HYPOCHONDRIA, a new play by OBIE wining playwright/composer Kyle Jarrow, begins its limited run on April 8th at Columbia's Schapiro Theatre (605 West 115th Street).

Set in a theatrical world that is equal parts graphic novel and rock and roll concert, HYPOCHONDRIA tells the story of a serial killer, a hypochondriac and a man who believes he is Marilyn Monroe. The play explores modern society's obsessions with celebrity, trauma and our current ennui through the unique blend of dark comedy and grunge music.

Jimmy Maize will direct the world premiere of HYPOCHONDRIA at Columbia University, Schapiro Theatre on April 8th - 10th. The play will star Peter Balcke, Lauren Cipoletti, Will Dagger, Heather DiBianco, Logan Hall, Leon Ingulsrud (Siti Company Member: bobrauschenbergamerica, Hotel Cassiopeia, Antigone), Preston Martin, Erika Rolfsrud (Broadway's Exit The King, The Coast of Utopia, Rabbit Hole) and Margo Seibert. The band will feature Daniel Gonzalez, Keith Reed and Eli Zoller.

The creative team includes Kyle Jarrow (Writer/Composer), Jimmy Maize (Director), Ethan Wagner (Arranger/Musical Director) and Alona Fogel (Producer), Ellen Mezzera (Stage Management), Mikaela Liakata (Scenic Design), David Bengali (Lighting Design), Anna Mains (Costume Design), Josh Rowe (Choreographer) and Katie Lorge (Choreographer).

Kyle Jarrow Is a writer and musician based in New York City. He writes for the stage as well as film and television, he plays in the band Super Mirage, and he's a co-founder of the indie publishing company Awkward Press. He won the prestigious OBIE Award at age 24 for his Off-Broadway hit A Very Merry Unauthorized Children's Scientology Pageant, which has subsequently been produced all over the country. Kyle wrote the film Armless, adapted from his play of the same name, which was an official selection of Sundance Film Festival 2010. Other stage plays include Love Kills, Trigger, President Harding is a Rock Star, Rip Me Open (co-writer), Hostage Song (music & lyrics), Gorilla Man (script available from Samuel French), and Whisper House (with Tony-winner Duncan Sheik, record now available from RCA/Victor).?

Jimmy Maize is an award-winning playwright/director and Artistic Associate of Tectonic Theater Project. He assistant directed 33 Variations with Jane Fonda on Broadway, Bengal Tiger at the Bagdad Zoo (Center Theatre Group), The Laramie Project (national tour) and helped develop numerous other projects with Moisés Kaufman. Recent directing credits include A Dream Play and The Seagull (Columbia University); The Skin of Our Teeth (Strasberg Institute); A Different Kind of Animal (Theater Row); You're Invited (Old Vic); Lucky Pink Wonderland (People's Improv Theatre) and Quantum Love Story (Theater Bureau). As a playwright he is a recipient of the David Nord Award and the first annual Bailiwick playwriting award for his interview-based play In One Room, which has been performed nationally. He is an Old Vic/New Voices T.S. Elliot Fellow, and current MFA directing candidate at Columbia University's School of the Arts.
