Struggling against his father's wishes to become a lawyer, a young man begins his journey from Rio to NYC to make a case for his own destiny in Naked Brazilian.

This Brazilian International Press Award winner is the story of a young man with the dream of being a performer and to make people happy. During his life in Rio de Janeiro the hero confronts several obstacles, including the drunk and repressor father who would like him to be a lawyer. He pursues the dream of being like the Marx Brothers and other actors from the old black and white comedy films. The play presents a series of characters such as the Brazilian malandro, the unstable therapist that wants to convince the boy that he isn't gay, the disgusting father, the slams mafia and finally the classical comedy actors. The play discusses challenges and risks of pursuing the dreams against a safe and boring comfortable life.

The play was developed with award-winning playwright and teacher Matt Hoverman and also with Lou Liberatore, Tony, Drama Desk, Outer Critics Award nominations as actor in the play "Burn This" on Broadway. It is written and performed by Gustavo Pace and directed by Rachel Eckerling. Ms. Eckerling has worked for several years with Francis Ford Coppola on both theatre and film projects. Mr. Coppola commissioned her film adaptation of the best-selling novel, The Girls' Guide to Hunting and Fishing by Melissa Bank. The play has costumes designed by Los Angeles based Brazilian artist Paulo Lima.

The American press considers Gustavo Pace enormously likable, engaging and a talented newcomer from Brazil to the New York's stage with his show "Naked Brazilian." Gustavo was nominated to receive the Brazilian International Press Awards with other big names of the Brazilian artistic life such as Gilberto Gil, Arnaldo Antunes, Roberto Carlos and other personalities. The Press Awards will be held in Fort Lauderdale on May 4, 2013.

Gustavo Pace, a native from Rio de Janeiro, is an actor, writer and singer graduated from the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in New York. Gustavo graduated with a Law degree from PUC-Rio in 2009. He also attended the Professional Course for Theater at Casa de Artes de Laranjeiras, Rio de Janeiro and the Neutral Mask, Clown, and Lecoq workshops, at Estúdio Teatro do Movimento, NYC. He has performed at the Tribeca Performing Arts in the project "Writers in Performance" in 2011 and 2012. Gustavo was selected for the American Repertory Theater at Harvard (2013-2015), which includes a three-month residency in Russia in 2014 where he will be representing Brazil in theatrical performances.

The play "Naked Brazilian" will be presented at Dixon Place on April 29, 2013 at 7:30 pm. In this space major groups and prestigious actors have started such as "Blue Man Group" and John Leguizamo, who had outstanding performances on Broadway last year. A review in the New York Times considers the Dixon amazing. The newspaper magazine says it is one of the most essential and necessary theater spaces in town.

The play will have only one presentation at Dixon Place, 161A Chrystie Street, Btwn Rivington & Delancey New York, NY 10002 F to 2ND AVE, B / D to GRAND, J / Z to BOWERY, 6 to SPRING, M to ESSEX.
