Creation Production Company To Present INSTINCT

By:

Creation Production Company will present Instinct, a new drama by two-time Obie Award-winner Matthew Maguire. Instinct will play its first performance on Friday, January 13, 2012 at Theatre Row's Lion Theatre (410 West 42nd Street), and will officially open on Wednesday, January 18. Instinct will play a strictly limited engagement, through Saturday, February 4.

Humans never adapt as quickly as the viruses they battle in Instinct, Matthew Maguire's breathlessly gripping drama about four cohabiting epidemiologists in a race against time. Science gets personal as they fight to contain a potentially devastating outbreak, while trying to keep their relationships from unraveling. Instinct ultimately reveals that nothing is more contagious than human desire.

The cast of Instinct includes Kim Blair, Maggie Bofill, Amirh Vann Rosario, and Jeffrey Withers.

Directed by Michael Kimmel, Instinct features Set and Lighting Design by Ben Kato, Costume Design by Christina Bullard, Sound Design by Andrew ingkavet, and Video Design by Aaron Rhyne.

An earlier incarnation of Instinct, called Wax Wings, premiered in spring 2011 at New York's Wild Project. Wax Wings was the result of a special commission by Emory University, as part of their Science of Evolution Conference in 2008. Maguire attended the conference and was asked to write a play based on topics discussed at the conference. He worked closely with molecular epidemiologist Dr. Leslie Real through the process. Dr. Real is credited with successfully saving African Great Apes who were in danger of being wiped out by the Ebola virus.

The performance schedule for Instinct will be as follows: Friday, January 13; Saturday, January 14; Tuesday, January 17; Wednesday, January 18; Thursday, January 19; Friday, January 20; Saturday, January 21; Wednesday, January 25; Thursday, January 26; Friday, January 27; Saturday, January 28; Tuesday, January 31; Wednesday, February 1; Thursday, February 2; Friday, February 3; and Saturday, February 4. Wed-Sat performances are at 8:00 PM, and Tues performances are at 7pm. Tickets are $18 and are available at www.telecharge.com or via telephone at (212) 239-6200.
