Creation Production Company will present the world premiere of Matthew Maguire's WAX WINGS, a new drama about an impending epidemic in the U.S., May 26th - June 11th at The Wild Project, 195 East 3rd St. in New York City. The production will begin previews Wednesday, May 25th and have its official opening on Wednesday, June 1, 2011. Michael Kimmel directs.

WAX WINGS depicts the unsettling and real life possibility of a virulent new strain of SARS erupting in the United States. Amidst the increasing probability of a pandemic igniting in rural Alabama, the affected area is quickly placed under military quarantine. Four scientists are chosen to spearhead the race to find a vaccine, but their personal lives are on the verge of cracking.

The cast of WAX WINGS features Colleen Werthmann, Eliza Baldi, Jack Marshall and Amirh Vann.

Matthew Maguire is a co-artistic director of Creation Production Company, with which he has produced over fifty new works, and the Director of Fordham University's Theatre Program. He is an alumnus of New Dramatists. His plays include Phaedra, and Abandon, and the creation with Philip Glass and Molissa Fenley of A Descent Into the Maelström for Australia's Adelaide Festival, among many others. His most recently published book (NoPassport Press, 2009) is Matthew Maguire: Three Plays, which includes The Tower, Luscious Music, and The Desert. Director Michael Kimmel most recently directed Eva Patton's Seen/Unseen at The Wild Project. As the Creative Director for Push Productions, he has overseen productions all over NYC, including the world premiere of Colin McKenna's The Secret Agenda of Trees, the NYC premiere of Len Jenkin's Kraken, and many others. Michael is also the Creator/Adaptor of The Last Goodbye, a musical adaptation of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet with music and lyrics by Jeff Buckley. As a concert reading TLG has been seen at The Wild Project, Joe's Pub at The Public Theater, and at The West Side Arts Center produced by The Public Theater. In summer 2010 Michael directed the world premiere of TLG at The Williamstown Theater Festival where it broke box office records. A subsequent production is expected sometime in 2011. Michael is a graduate of and adjunct Theatre faculty member at Fordham University at Lincoln Center.

Performances of WAX WINGS are Wednesday through Saturdays at 8PM.
