Spring Awakening's Christy Altomare will lead the cast of Trails, a new musical, which will have an industry reading April 26th and 28th, 2011 at New World Stages.

Trails, a hit of the 2010 New York Musical Theatre Festival, features music by Jeff Thomson, lyrics by Jordan Mann, and book by Christy Hall. The industry reading will be presented by New World Stages and Fakston Productions (Ken Fakler and Dan Stone).

The cast also includes Herndon Lackey (Parade) and Mary Stout (Beauty and the Beast). Nick Dalton, Matt Lutz, and Hollis Scarborough will reprise their roles from the NYMF production. Brad Haak (Mary Poppins) serves as music director for the reading. Jen Bender (The Lion King) directs.

Trails tells the story of two friends, adrift in their lives, who reconnect after ten years and set out to fulfill a childhood promise: to hike the Appalachian Trail from beginning to end. Over the six-month, 2000-mile journey, past and present intertwine as the two face both the elements and the ghosts that haunt their memories. As they sift through the ashes of their tumultuous history, a bond of brotherhood struggles to be reborn.
After its New York debut at the 2010 New York Musical Theatre Festival, Trails won the Stage Entertainment USA Development Award. The show also received the NYMF Audience Choice Award and the Talkin' Broadway Citation for Best New Musical. Composer Jeff Thomson won the NYMF award for Excellence in Writing: Music.

The presentations will be held Tuesday, April 26th at 5pm and Thursday, April 28th at 2pm. New World Stages is located at 340 West 50th Street, New York, NY 10019.
