A NEW PLAY ... WHERE GREAT PLAYS BEGIN...

New York Theatre Intensives and the 13th Street Rep
invite you to a staged reading of a play commissioned after 9/11 that - in the wake of the heinous acts in Paris this weekend - becomes all the more relevant.
Join us for a reading of this moving play that focuses on the consequence of violence in the name of God's will.

Tonight, December 1 @ 7:30 p.m.
BOUNTY OF LACE
By Susan Merson, author of the recent acclaimed musical, BETWEEN PRETTY PLACES

Exploring the Experience of Women In A War-Torn Region Dominated by Male Agendas

Her Orthodox stepmother, an admiring Ethiopian professor, and an American expatriate struggle to help a young Israeli woman, secretly pregnant by a Palestinian man - but about to enter into an arranged marriage with the rabbi's son. An exploration of women and violence.

$20 - 90 minutes of music, comedy, and home-baked holiday refreshments!

Make a night of music and merriment your Christmas present to yourself!

Susan Merson, the 13th Street Repertory's producing artistic director has woo'd MEL DELANCEY to return to the legendary space for a holiday blast! Tinderella, Mel's on-stage persona, will host nine - count-em - nine talented, musical, comedic, clever, witty ... and eclectic ... guests.

Meet Mel...

Mel DeLancey, rapidly becoming a fixture at the legendary 13th Street Rep, has been performing on the smaller stages of downtown Manhattan and Williamsburg for more than 15 years. For the Dysfunctional Theatre Arts Collective, she hosted and headlined her original program, I Heart Showtunes, in Nolan Park, House 8B on Governor's Island. She spent a proud five years writing, directing, producing, and performing with the sketch comedy group Slightly Known People (SKP), where her sold-out weekly show at RiFiFi in the East Village, ran for more than 150 performances. Her latest passion is singing classic musical theater repertoire and telling her own life stories in a cabaret format. She just closed her first one woman show "Tinder Roulette: A Musical Memoir" at 13th Street Repertory.

Expect more shenanigans from Mel's alter ego in 2016 ... or sooner!!!

The Rep Resurgence Project heralds a return to quality and professionalism at the 13th Street Repertory. New works, learning intensives, premieres, guest artists, and musical works create a busy and exciting 2015-2016 season at the landmark theatre. Many performers got their start on this stage, including Bette Midler and Chazz Palminteri, who commented on the possibility of the theatre closing as saying "It's not just closing down the 13th Street Theater. It's closing down a whole universe."

Susan Merson's army of soldiers for the arts is growing - some from the glory days of the space, others fresh out of school and wanting to join theatre history - and with luck, faith, and tons of energy, the 13th Street Repertory Playhouse will have hundreds of people waiting on LINE... on stage and at the ticket booth.
