Ars Nova presents, as part of the Out Loud series, a FREE reading of: THE SCIENTIFIC METHOD by Jenny Connell, directed by Giovanna Sardelli. The cast includes Emily Bergl, Arjun Gupta, Gretchen Hall and Carra Patterson.

THE SCIENTIFIC METHOD
Research scientist Amy Garmey isn't seeing funding, and she isn't seeing results, but she is seeing a ghost. With a mentor who's her rival, a rival who's her boyfriend, and a best friend who's a dead scientific celebrity, Amy's on the brink of madness. Or, the scientific method.

Jenny Connell is a member of the Ars Nova Play Group. Her work has been developed or produced with Ars Nova, NAATCO, Theatre Mitu, The Gift Theatre (Chicago), Theater Masters, Shrewd Productions (Austin), Secondhand Theater (Austin) and UT Austin, where she received her MFA. Jenny has had two short films produced (screened at Toronto and SxSW, among other festivals); her first full-length screenplay, Playing House, was a semi-finalist for the Nicholl and was a selected Emerging Narrative for this year's Independent Film Week (IFP). She's been a finalist for BAPF and the Heideman, a semi-finalist for PlayPenn, the O'Neill, Seven Devils, Julliard.

Giovanna Sardelli has directed the World Premieres of Rajiv Joseph's plays The North Pool (TheatreWorks), Animals Out of Paper (Joe A. Callaway Award for Outstanding Director), All This Intimacy (both for Second Stage), The Leopard and The Fox (Alter Ego), and Huck & Holden (Cherry Lane). Ms. Sardelli directed the West Coast Premiere of The Whipping Man by Matthew Lopez (Old Globe), NY Premiere of Lynn Rosen's Apple Cove (Women's Project), World Premieres of James McLindon's Salvation (Hudson Stage Co), Christopher Wall's Dreams of the Washer King (Playwrights Realm), Lila Rose Kaplan's Wildflower (Second Stage), Zoe Kazan's Absalom (ATL Humana Festival) and Adriana Sevan's Taking Flight (CTG & others). Ms. Sardelli has developed plays with The Lark, EST, Sundance, the Playwrights' Center, and the O'Neill among others. MFA: Grad Acting NYU, graduate of their Director's Lab. She is on the faculty of the Graduate Acting and Dance Programs at NYU. Upcoming: Somewhere by Matthew Lopez (Old Globe).
