Apollinaire Theatre Presents ROSENCRANTZ AND GUILDENSTERN ARE DEAD, Now thru 7/28

Apollinaire Theatre Company presents Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead by Tom Stoppard, at Theatre in the Park in English and Spanish tonight, July 11 through July 28, Wed.-Sun. at 7:30 Mary O'Malley Park, Commandant's Way, on the Chelsea Waterfront (Admiral's Hill).

This wickedly funny companion piece to Hamlet turns Shakespeare inside out and shows us what's going on offstage from the point of view of Hamlet’s school chums. The neurotic Guildenstern and hapless Rosencrantz do their best to understand their place in a world completely beyond their grasp.

Borrowing from Beckett and stealing from Shakespeare, Stoppard serves up a feast of wordplay, wit, and slapstick while exploring the timeless questions of identity, illusion, and being on a boat. An instant modern classic, R&G Are Dead won the 1968 Tony Award for Best Play, has appeared on stages all over the world, and became a major motion picture. R&G's three acts will be performed in distinct locations throughout the park, with the audience moving with the action. The park's historic dock stands in for the boat as Rosencrantz and Guildenstern set sail with Hamlet for England. Expect pirates!

Audiences are encouraged to bring blankets and beach chairs, and a picnic to enjoy along with the Boston harbor views.

Ron Lacey, recently seen in Apollinaire's production of Uncle Vanya as Astrov (Elliot Norton nominee for Outstanding Actor), stars in the role of Rosencrantz opposite Sean Cote's Guildenstern in English. Spanish nights' feature Juan C. Rodriguez and Keith Michael Pinault in the title roles.

These Free performances of Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead are July 11-28, Wed.-Sun. at 7:30. English performances are Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Spanish performances are Fridays and Sundays.
