After touring regionally, The Anthropologists' award-winning play, Artemisia's Intent, has been invited to return to NYC in honor of Women's History Month and the 20th Anniversary of the Estrogenius Festival.

Artemisia's Intent delivers a tour-de-force performance to unearth the life, work and words of 17th century painter Artemisia Gentileschi. Declared "a powerful parallel to our current cultural moment" (Culture Catch), this riveting play stars Mariah Freda in a performance that is "fiery, smart and appealing" (Hi! Drama). Inspired by every proclamation of 'me too,' Artemisia's Intent crafts a startling portrait of a woman caught at the intersection of power, assault, and art. The play, devised by a team of five women artists, originally premiered at the 2018 Frigid Festival where it won Best Solo Drama.

EstroGenius 2020 is the longest running festival of its kind. The 2020 Festival is made possible in part via individual donations and public funds from Creative Engagement, supported by the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council and the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew Cuomo and administered by LMCC.

The play will receive two performances: Saturday, March 28 at 5:00pm and Monday, March 30 at 8:30pm. Tickets are $20 and may be reserved online or purchased at the box office. For tickets visit https://estrogenius.org/. For more information visit www.theanthropologists.org.
