Back by popular demand for six more weeks, Vy Higginsen's smash hit, ALIVE! 55+ and Kickin' returns for its 5th year to The Dempsey Theater in Harlem (127 W. 127th Street) For a six-week engagement on Saturdays, October 14th through November 18th at 1pm.

With stories of hope, possibility, choices and change, ALIVE! is a healing journey about the transformative power of song in the lives of people born before the internet became king. As seen on its Emmy award-winning profile on 60minutes, this musical resonates with people across multiple generations and provides valuable insight into key elements of the human spirit. Playwright and producers, Ken Wydro and Vy Higginsen intentionally created and casted the production with individuals that had stories powerful enough to speak to many.

"What makes ALIVE! 55+ and Kickin' is that it bares truth to this valuable aspiration: The first 50 years is for learning and the second 50 is for living." Offers Higginsen, "Being 50+ does not mean it is over for anyone, but an opportunity to grow into the person you were always meant to be. These adults give us strong examples of how second chances are available to everyone sincerely seeking them."

After returning from a sold-out summer season tour with raved reviews in Philadelphia, Baltimore, Washington D.C. and other great cities, ALIVE! finds station at its home in the historic Oberia D. Dempsey Theater. Located in the heart of Harlem, blocks away from the bustle of 125th Street, it is an appropriate venue for the musical because it also represents restoration, reclamation and reunion. For Harlemites and theater-goers, it is a space where people can see themselves in the Broadway quality productions for a fraction of the price.

Tickets go on sale in August. Contact The Mama Foundation for The Arts for group sales or theater party opportunities jbowe@mamafoundation.org.
