A LITTLE BIT OF THIS AND THAT Workshop to Benefit Abingdon Theatre, 9/22

By:

The Sunday Series at Abingdon will present A LITTLE BIT OF THIS AND THAT, a special one night only workshop benefit performance on September 22 of three new one acts by New York-based playwright Charles Messina. Proceeds will benefit the programs of the not-for-profit Abingdon Theatre.
The evening will include three one acts making their New York Premiere. In THOMPSON STREET, Messina takes us back to his roots, a Soho park, where a chance encounter between two old friends proves that the past is always changing. In SINKHOLE a sudden opening in the backyard of a suburban couple turns their world upside down. FAIRIES tells the tale of what happens when Santa, the Easter Bunny, Tooth Fairy, Tom Turkey and Cupid all show up at a little boy's house on the same night by accident.
The stellar cast for the one-acts includes Max Casella ("The Lion King"), Anthony DeSando ("A View From The Bridge"), Tom Alan Robbins ("Newsies"), Gina Ferranti, Alfredo Diaz, Johnny Tammaro, Steven LaChioma, Nick Fondulis, MichaeL Barbieri, Khalid Goncalves, and Scott Seidman.
Charles Messina has become a strong voice on the NY theatre scene. His plays present a world that is wholly and uniquely New York. In addition to directing the long-running show The Accidental Pervert, starring Andrew Goffman, he also has his autobiographical comedy A Room of My Own, starring Mario Cantone and Ralph Macchio being developed for Broadway. Messina has also penned the musical The Wanderer about the life and music of Dion, being produced byTed Kurdyla. Mr. Messina's Mercury: The Afterlife and Times of a Rock God about the life of Queen frontman Freddie Mercury has also received across-the-board critical acclaim.
All proceeds from A LITTLE BIT OF THIS AND THAT will benefit the not-for-profit Abingdon Theatre Company. Since 1993, the Abingdon Theatre Company has developed and produced new plays by American Playwrights exclusively. Under the artistic direction of Jan Buttram, the company provides a safe home in which playwrights collaborate with other theatre artists and receive audience feedback through the utilization of our four-step development process: First Readings, Staged Readings, and Workout Labs, which culminate in Studio Productions and Mainstage Productions. ATC is now celebrating its 21st season. Find more information at www.abingdontheatre.org.
