The 16th annual Origin 1st Irish Theatre Festival will take place this year from March 23 to April 28 in New York.
After a two-year break, Origin Theatre Company is reviving its popular new-play reading series, “Mondays in May,” with staged readings of new shows read every Monday in a month packed with Mondays – five in all!
Origin Theatre Company has announced the cast and design team for the American premiere of “A Kid Like Rishi,” Kees Roorda’s critically acclaimed Dutch play about a notorious racial profiling police killing in The Hague.
Originally scheduled to run from Sun Jan 9 to Mon Jan 31, the hybrid virtual and in-person Festival was extended by several days to accommodate the world premiere of John Kearns’ “Boann and the Well of Wisdom,” which was forced to reschedule its run at Ryan’s Daughter due to COVID-related developments.
Origin Theatre Company will announce the bulk of its current 19th season at a gala dinner at the Manhattan Penthouse, 80 Fifth Avenue (at 14th Street), on Tuesday December 7, at 6:30pm. The evening will honor Origin’s founder George C. Heslin and board member Andrea Haughian, vice president of business development for Invest Northern Ireland.
The 2021 “European Month of Culture NYC,” produced by Origin Theatre Company in partnership with the Delegation of the European Union to the United States, is restarting this month with a series of play readings and panel talks involving playwrights, producers and cultural organizations from New York, Romania, Ireland, Spain, Greece, and more.
