Victor L. Cahn's ROMANTIC TRAPEZOID Opens Tonight at Theatre Row

Victor L. Cahn's Romantic Trapezoid makes its world premiere directed by Alberto Bonilla at Theatre Row's Lion Theatre, opening tonight, November 8, for a run through November 25, 2017 at Theatre Row's Lion Theatre (410 West 42 Street).

Melissa figures she has everything: a thriving career, a devoted partner (who never overstays his welcome), and the freedom to enjoy whatever and whomever else she wants. But when an unexpected visitor brings equally unexpected news, Melissa's rollicking life turns into comic confusion, replete with surprising twists and a tantalizing resolution.

Cast includes: Elizabeth Inghram as Melissa (NY: Hot and Sweet, After the Ball), Zack Calhoon as Dave (Regional: Dancing Lesson, Hamlet; NY: Henry IV Part 1), Joy Donze as Beth (Edinburgh: Whore: A Kids Play, 13 & Not Pregnant). Creative team includes: The designers are Sheryl Liu (scenic design), Viviane Galloway (costume design), Pamela Kupper (lighting design), Nick Simone (sound design). Stephanie Klapper Casting (Casting consultant) and produced by Rachel Reiner Productions.

Victor L. Cahn (Playwright) has written numerous plays produced Off-Broadway and regionally, including Roses in December, Embraceable Me, Fit to Kill (all published by Samuel French), Dally with the Devil, A Dish for the Gods, Sheepskin (all published by Steele Spring Stage Rights), Villainous Company, Getting the Business, and Sherlock Solo, a one-man show that he performed. He has appeared onstage throughout the Capital Region of New York, taking leading roles in works by Shakespeare, Shaw, Pinter, Coward, Ayckbourn, Simon, Gurney, Christie, and Knott. He is Professor Emeritus of English at Skidmore College, and author of fifteen books (seven on Shakespeare), and his articles and reviews have appeared in such varied publications as Modern Drama, The Literary Review, The New York Times, The Chronicle of Higher Education, and Variety. He is a member of the Dramatists Guild, Inc.

Alberto Bonilla (Director) is an actor/writer/director based in New York City. Some of his acting credits include the films Youth in Oregon, Sleep Walk with Me, Cop Out, Pride and Glory, and My Best Friends Girl. Selected television credits include Iron Fist, Gotham, Blue Bloods, Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, Person of Interest, The Sopranos, and Law & Order: Criminal Intent. Alberto recently made his Broadway debut understudying Dr.Wally and Bob for Roundabout Theatre's production of Marvin's Room. Other theater credits include: The Diorama, Much Ado About Nothing, Twelfth Night, The Cherry Orchard, The Laramie Project and Raft of the Medusa. As a writer, his first foray into New York City theater was as part of the creative team at 78th Street Theatre Lab that developed the play Boy Steals Train, which won a Fringe First and Best Ensemble award at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Scotland. After Scotland, Alberto was inspired to write and direct Walking To America which was also developed and produced at the 78th Street Theatre Lab. This play was based on a true story of a boy who walked from Honduras to America. It was so well received that it was published in NY Theatre's "Plays and Playwrights 2005," an anthology of off-Broadway plays. Other written works include: Nonnie (produced at Metropolitan Playhouse), Big Black Mexican Woman, #69, El Conejo, and PS 357. He is currently developing Hunting For Ewoks, based on real life stories of border patrol officers and the illegal immigrants who are captured in Arizona. Alberto also wrote and developed a new play based on Medea called Maria with Resonance Ensemble, of which he is a member. Alberto received a B.A. in Theatre at Arizona State University. He also studied at The British American Dramatic Academy in Oxford, England. He continued his studies at Rutgers University, Mason Gross School of the Arts receiving an MFA in Acting under Maggie Flanagan and William Esper. Alberto has directed several shows including King Lear (featuring Austin Pendleton as Lear), Macbeth, Richard III (winner: Queens Courier "Kudos" award for best director), Merchant of Venice, Servant of Two Masters, Raft of the Medusa, Look Back in Anger, Three Points Over the Vig, Leaving Lilly and many more. Alberto is also a fight director, teacher and the Director of Third Year Studies at the Terry Knickerbocker Studio where he teaches acting for Film and Television. Alberto also teaches on-camera acting at NYU Tisch ETW, Stella Adler Studios and Fairleigh Dickinson University. Alberto is a member of AEA, AFTRA and SAG. He is also a member of HOLA (Hispanic Organization of Latin Actors) and NALIP (National Association Latin Independent Producers).
