The NYC Indie Theatre Film Festival Returns This February At the Jeffrey and Paula Gural Theatre

The NYC Indie Theatre Film Festival (NYCITFF), formerly a program of the New Ohio Theatre, has announced their return in 2024, from February 15 - 18, at the Jeffrey and Paula Gural Theatre at the A.R.T./New York Theatres, located at 502 West 53 Street. The festival, led by Executive Director and Programmer Marc Weitz, and Producer and Programmer Allyson Morgan, is now in its 8th year.

NYCITFF presents work from independent theatre artists who are defying labels and branching out into digital media and film. Feature-length films, short films, filmmaker Q&As and panels with industry professionals will be presented. The full schedule will be announced in January 2024.

Producer Allyson Morgan shares, "We're beyond thrilled to announce that we're able to return in February at the beautiful Gural Theatre. A.R.T./New York has a long history of supporting theatre artists in New York, and it felt like a natural transition to partner with them on our first iteration of the festival outside of the New Ohio. We can't wait to unveil our most diverse slate of films yet!"

Marc Weitz, Executive Director, adds, "We were very sad when the New Ohio closed in August. They were a pillar of the downtown theatre scene for 30 years. But we talked with our artists and our audiences, and they told us to keep going. We're building a community of theatre artists working in film, and we're giving audiences a place to watch their work. We're excited to land at A.R.T./New York and continue our mission."

All-access passes are $50, which provide access to every event at the festival. Individual tickets will also be on sale for $14. Passes and tickets will be available in January on the NYCITFF website at https://www.nycitff.org.

To get a taste of what NYCITFF offers, audiences can tune into CUNY TV Presents: NYC Indie Theatre Film Festival on December 1-3, 8-10 and 15-18, from 2pm - 4pm ET each day, to see alumni films. The program will play on channels Antenna 25.3, Spectrum/Optimum 75, RCN 77 and Verizon FiOS 30. CUNY TV Presents is a new film forum focusing on New York City filmmakers and their exceptional cinematic work. In partnership with local film festivals and CUNY schools, CUNY TV broadcasts short and feature-length films and documentaries, highlighting the filmmakers' diverse experiences.

Past NYCITFF films Goat, Intimacy Workshop, Prometheus Bound (Dec 1-3 & Dec 15-18), 16 Words or Less, The Bad Infinity, I Digress: Part 2, Pippi, Wendy, and Who Knows? (Dec 8-10) will be screened on CUNY TV, along with filmmaker Q&As with Marc Stuart Weitz. After the initial broadcast, the show will be available on CUNY's YouTube playlist at https://tinyurl.com/ytbfjmnt.

Illuminating theatre artists with film, the NYC Indie Theatre Film Festival, founded by Marc Weitz and co-produced and programmed by Allyson Morgan, presents work from independent theatre artists defying labels and branching out into film, TV and digital media. Founded in 2017 as a program of New Ohio Theatre, the NYCITFF screens narratives, documentaries, shorts, features, dance, experimental, webisodes and everything in between. For their 8th year, following the closing of the beloved New Ohio, they are moving uptown to the Jeffrey and Paula Gural Theatre at the A.R.T./New York Theatres. They're excited for their new home and to share work from both returning and new theatre artists from across the globe! For more info visit https://www.nycitff.org.
