Playwrights Realm to Stage Anton Dudley's CITY OF; Performances Begin January 2015

The Playwrights Realm will present the world premiere of City Of by Anton Dudley, directed by Stephen Brackett (Buyer & Cellar). The production runs January 26 through February 21, 2015 with a February 5 opening at the Peter Jay Sharp Theater (416 W. 42nd Street, NYC). Tickets will go on sale to the public beginning December 29th, 2014.

City Of is The Playwrights Realm's inaugural Alumni Production. This program will be dedicated to mounting new works by the growing contingency of Alumni Playwrights who have already been produced by the company. The Realm previously presented Anton Dudley's play Substitution in 2008.

Somewhere in Paris, on a rainy night, a gargoyle falls in love with a pigeon, the ghost of Paul Verlaine recites poetry for passersby, and large glasses of emerald green absinthe are poured and consumed. Somewhere in Paris, on a rainy night, four Americans, lost and lonely, discover that their lives and their dreams are intertwined in ways they'd never imagined.

The design team includes Cameron Anderson (Scenic Design), Paul Carey (Costume Design), Brian Tovar (Lighting Design), Matt Hubbs (Sound Design) and Anna Demenkoff (Props Design). Megan Schwarz Dickert is the Production Stage Manager.

Anton Dudley's Off-Broadway productions include 17 Orchard Point (co-written with Stephanie DiMaggio; The Beckett Theater featuring Michele Pawk), Substitution (Playwrights Realm featuring Jan Maxwell), Getting Home (Second Stage Theatre, directed by David Schweizer) and Slag Heap (Cherry Lane Theatre featuring Vincent Kartheiser). Other productions include A Dram of Drummhicit (co-written with Arthur Kopit; LaJolla Playhouse, directed by Christopher Ashley), Honor and the River (Walnut Street Theatre, Luna Stage, SPF, New York Stage & Film, Manhattan Theatre Club commission), Cold Hard Cash (Williamstown Theatre Festival), Letters to the End of the World (Finalist for 2012 Lambda Literary Award in LGBT Drama), Davy & Stu (Ensemble Studio Theatre), The Lake's End (Adirondack Theatre Festival), and BOB (NYSAF directed by Leigh Silverman).
