Primary Stages (Casey Childs, Executive Producer; Andrew Leynse, Artistic Director; Elliot Fox, Managing Director) presents the New York premiere of The Night Watcher written and performed by Charlayne Woodard, an inspiring one-woman show under the direction of Tony Award-winner Daniel Sullivan.

The production held a press Meet & Greet with Charlayne Woodard and Daniel Sullivan at the beginning of rehearsal on Wednesday, August 26 at 12:00pm at Primary Stages (307 West 38th Street, 15th floor).

Performances begin Tuesday, September 22, 2009 for a limited run through Saturday, October 31, 2009 at Primary Stages at 59E59 Theaters (59 East 59th Street, between Park and Madison Avenues). Opening night is set for Tuesday, October 6, 2009 at 7:00 p.m.

Simultaneously a best friend, advisor, confidant and sage to the many young people who call her "Auntie," Charlayne Woodard is childless only by biological standards. Told with penetrating grace and candor, Woodard beautifully weaves together stories of the ordinary and extraordinary ways she's mentored the children in her life. Declared "thoughtful, vivid, entertaining and poignant" in its Seattle Repertory debut last Fall, The Night Watcher is an intimate look at the alternative definition of being a parent.

The creative team includes Tom Lynch & Charlie Corcoran (Set), Jess Goldstein (Costumes), Geoff Korf (Lights), Obadiah Eaves (Sound), and Tal Yarden (Projections). The Production Stage Manager is Kelly Glasow.

The Night Watcher will play the following performance schedule: Tuesdays at 7:00 p.m., Wednesdays through Fridays at 8:00 p.m., Saturdays at 2:00 p.m. & 8:00 p.m., with Sunday matinees at 3:00 p.m. on September 27th , October 4th & 11th, and Wednesday matinees at 2:00 p.m. on October 14th, 21st & 28th. Following the public performances on October 8th, 15th, & 22nd, there are special "Artist/Audience Talkbacks" for the attendees of those performances.

Single tickets for The Night Watcher are priced at $60 each and may be purchased by calling Ticket Central at (212) 279-4200.

The special Pay What You Can ticket offer (a program instituted last season at Primary Stages) will be available for the first two preview performances on September 22, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. and September 23, 2009 at 8:00 p.m. Tickets go on sale two hours prior to curtain and are limited to two (2) tickets per person, cash only, no change given, must provide mailing address and will be available on a first-come, first-served basis, only at the 59E59 Theater Box Office

For theater patrons 35 and under, Primary Stages offers specially priced $20 tickets (maximum two tickets per valid ID). Advance tickets are available through Ticket Central using code PS35. Failure to present a valid ID will result in an additional $40 fee. All tickets are subject to availability.

Primary Stages concludes its 25th anniversary season with the New York premieres of Happy Now? by Lucinda Coxon (January 26, 2010 - March 10, 2010) with direction by Liz Dimond.
