Signature Theatre presents the New York Premiere of August Wilson's How I Learned What I Learned, co-conceived with and directed by Todd Kreidler, in collaboration with and featuring Tony Award-winner Ruben Santiago-Hudson. Now in performances, the production will now play through Sunday, December 29. Opening night is November 24 in The Alice Griffin Jewel Box Theatre at The Pershing Square Signature Center (480 West 42nd Street between 9th and 10th Avenues). This solo show, featuring Ruben Santiago-Hudson, shares August Wilson's personal stories about his encounters with racism, music, love, violence, and life-changing friendships as a young poet in Pittsburgh's Hill District. Directed by the Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright's long-time collaborator Todd Kreidler, August Wilson's How I Learned What I Learned charts one man's journey of self-discovery and what it means to be a black artist in America.
The design team includes David Gallo (Scenic and Projection Design), Constanza Romero (Associate Artist and Costume Design), Thom Weaver (Lighting Design), and Dan Moses Schreier (Sound Design). Winnie Y. Lok is the Production Stage Manager.
