The Playwrights Realm, Off-Broadway's newest theater company, will present the World Premiere of Anton Dudley's Substitution at SoHo Playhouse. The play was written specifically for Tony Award nominee Jan Maxwell, who stars in the production, directed by Katherine Kovner. Produced on an Off-Broadway contract, this limited engagement begins previews April 26 with opening night slated for May 4.
In Substitution, Calvin's Mom is coping with the death of her teenage son as best as she can. When a substitute teacher challenges everything she thinks she knows about Calvin, their volatile bond creates a complex unfolding of revelations.
