Clarke Thorell, John Sanders & More Will Star in Atlantic Theater Company's CLOUD NINE

Atlantic Theater Company has announced complete casting for the first production of its 30th anniversary season, the New York revival of multiple Obie Award winner Caryl Churchill's landmark play Cloud Nine, directed by Obie Award winner James Macdonald.

Cloud Nine will feature Brooke Bloom (You Got Older), Sean Dugan (Next Fall), Lucy Owen (The Village Bike), Chris Perfetti (Picnic), John Sanders (Peter and the Starcatcher), Izzie Steele (What I Did Last Summer) and Clarke Thorell (Annie).

Cloud Nine will begin previews Wednesday, September 16, officially open Monday, October 5 and play a limited engagement through Sunday, November 1, 2015 Off Broadway at Atlantic Theater Company's Linda Gross Theater (336 West 20 Street).

Set in colonial Africa and 1979 London, Cloud Nine is about power, politics, family, Queen Victoria and sex. This timeless and bitingly funny modern classic has not been seen in a major New York production since 1981, when it ran for over two years.

Prolific English playwright Caryl Churchill has been honored with Obie Awards for her plays Top Girls, A Number and Cloud Nine; a Lucille Lortel Award for Owners, and Drama Desk Award nominations for The Skriker and Mad Forest. Her Broadway plays include Top Girls and Serious Money. She reunites with James Macdonald, who staged her acclaimed play Love and Information at the Royal Court Theatre and Off Broadway.

James Macdonald received an Obie Award last season for staging Caryl Churchill's critically acclaimed play Love and Information Off Broadway, and an Evening Standard Award nomination for the London production. His staging of the play c*ckat The Royal Court received a 2010 Olivier Award before transferring to New York, where he was nominated for the 2013 Lucille Lortel Award for Outstanding Director.

Brooke Bloom appeared Off Broadway in Somewhere Fun and You Got Older, for which she was recognized with an Obie Award and Drama Desk nomination last season. Sean Dugan received a Drama Desk Award nomination for his role in Next Fall on Broadway and has starred Off Broadway in Tail! Spin!; The Illusion, Valhalla and Flesh and Blood. Lucy Owen recently appeared Off Broadway in The Village Bike and will be featured in the new Showtime series "Billions." Chris Perfetti appeared on Broadway in Picnic, Off Broadway in Sons of the Prophet, and in the NBC television series "Crossbones" and HBO's "Looking." John Sanders starred in the Broadway and national tour productions of Peter and the Starcatcher, appeared in the original cast of Matilda the Musical, and is known for the television series "Elementary" and "The Following." Izzie Steele was last seen in What I Did Last Summer Off Broadway and recently starred in the Canadian production of The Heart of Robin Hood. Clarke Thorell starred in the Broadway musicals Annie, Hairspray, Mamma Mia! and appeared Off Broadway in Satellites, Lone Star Love and Saturday Night.

Cloud Nine will feature scenic design by Dane Laffrey, costume design by Gabriel Berry, lighting design by Scott Zielinksi, sound design by Darron L West and casting by Telsey + Company.
