Great voice from a small island state.Eivr Plsdttir (b. 1983, Syrugta, Faroe Islands) learned to sing before she learned to walk. Growing up singing traditional Faroese folk songs would gradually yield results: Eivr had her first TV-appearance when she was 13, and the same year she won a national song competition. To date she has released 17 albums, and her voice often described as delicate, stirring, and ethereal has brought her recognition and fans from all over the world. Eivrs compositions have also appeared in movies and TV series such as Game of Thrones and The Last Kingdom. The Faroeses musical roots are firmly planted in the folk music of her homeland, but you will find anything from jazz, country, and big band to classical music and trip hop in her extensive catalogue. Eivr is known for captivating live performances with a warm and vibrant presence, and she made great success as part of the Nordvegen concert series during the 2018 Bergen International Festival.If you cant catch the premiere, a recording is available until June 23.
