Upcoming: JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR in Concert at Ullensaker Kulturhus
The ground breaking rock opera JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR will be presented as a concert performance May 10th and 11th at Ullensaker Kulturhus.
JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR with lyrics by Tim Rice and music by Andrew Lloyd Webber started its life as a rock opera concept album before its Broadway debut in 1971. It has since become one of the worlds most performed musicals. The composer prefers it to be performed as a theatrical concert.
The story is loosely based on the Gospels' accounts of the last week of Jesus's life, beginning with the preparation for the arrival of Jesus and his disciples in Jerusalem and ending with the crucifixion. It depicts political and interpersonal struggles between Judas Iscariot and Jesus that are not present in the Bible.
JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR wil feature Sølve Oftebro (Regtime) as Jesus, Samuel Brandt (Les Miserables) as Judas, Silje Hagrim Dahl (Evita) as Maria Magdalena and Morten Bergheim (Juleskurken) as Pilate.
The rest of the cast consists of Mattis Johannessen, Joakim Ousdal, Eirik Jahren Røine, Thomas Stokke and Magnus Oen Torsvik. In addition the procuction will use three local choirs. Erland Helbø will serve as musical director and Ingelin Dahl Helbø will be artistic director/producer. She is excited about the production:
