National Chamber Ensemble - Mozart and Bruch: The Great Concertos at Gunston Arts Center - Theater One

Internationally acclaimed pianist Carlos Cesar Rodriguez joins NCE for a luminous performance of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s beloved Piano Concerto No. 21 in C major, “Elvira Madigan,” celebrated for its elegance, lyricism, and timeless appeal. Artistic Director and violinist Leo Sushansky takes center stage in Max Bruch’s Violin Concerto No. 1 in G minor, a cornerstone of the violin repertoire, offering a deeply personal and passionate interpretation of its sweeping romantic lines.

The program is further enriched by Florence Price’s Adoration, a work of profound beauty and spiritual warmth, and Johan Svendsen’s Romance, cherished for its lyrical charm and expressive simplicity.

This season finale celebrates the genius of some of classical music’s most enduring voices while showcasing the interpretive depth and artistry of NCE’s distinguished musicians in an intimate and engaging concert experience.

About the Artists:

Violinist Leo Sushansky, Artistic Director of the National Chamber Ensemble, has been praised by The Washington Post for his “gorgeous tone” and by The New York Times as “astonishing.” He has appeared as soloist with the New York Philharmonic and numerous orchestras worldwide, performing in major venues including Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, and the Berlin Philharmonie.

Pianist Carlos Cesar Rodriguez is an internationally acclaimed virtuoso recognized for his brilliance in Spanish repertoire as well as classical and contemporary works. He has performed at Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, the White House, and the Mozarteum in Salzburg, and has collaborated with artists including Jessye Norman, Denyce Graves, and Placido Domingo.
