The American Shakespeare Center (ASC) begins its annual Actors' Renaissance Season with performances of Hamlet and Richard II on January 19. The Actors' Renaissance Season is the ASC's experiment into what Elizabethan and Jacobean rehearsal conditions might have been and features a troupe of veteran ASC actors who design the productions and conduct rehearsals without a formal director.

Richmond Triangle Players celebrates the city's annual Acts Of Faith Festival with a production of Tony Award-winning playwright Terrence McNally's Corpus Christi. A retelling of the New Testament, set in 1950s Texas, the play opens Thursday February 1 at 8:00 pm, following a low-priced preview on Wednesday January 31. The production is sponsored by Richmond furniture retailer LaDiff.

The cabaret revue is based on Previn's 1972 cult concept album that centers on a would-be starlet's attempt to break into the movies and the misfits she befriends or exploit or shun her. The Firehouse production is directed by George Boyd, with musical direction and arrangements by Matthew Pool and features performers Dan Cimo, Kelsey Cordrey, Nicole Forret Oh, Jessi Johnson, Matt Polson, Stevie Rice, and Emily Skidmore accompanied by Steve Belven, Troy Gatrell, and Starlet Knight.
