By:

Wayside Theatre in conjunction with local libraries and bookstores are providing a Summer Reading selection with an opportunity to see a live Wayside Theatre production this fall of "The Woman in Black". The "Read A Book, See It Live!" program joins with the libraries of John Handley Regional (Winchester, Fredrick County, Clarke County), Samuel's Library (Front Royal/Warren County ), Page County Public Library (Luray), Strasburg, Woodstock, Mount Jackson, Fort Valley Community Libraries, and Shenandoah County Library in Edinburg to provide a free ticket valid for a specific performance upon checking it out, reading the novel, The Woman in Black: A Ghost Story, by Susan Hill and returning the book to the library to a performance of Wayside Theatre's "The Woman in Black" on either Saturday, October 8th at 2:30 PM, or 8:00 PM, and Thursday, October 13th at 8:00 PM. As well as, the following Bookstores are participating: Winchester Book Gallery, and Royal Oak Bookshop (Front Royal), where you can purchase the novel, and will receive a free ticket for each purchase to the play for one of three performances.

The mystery, "Woman in Black" is this year's annual "Read A Book, See It Live!" program. "The recommended age group for the book is 5th grade and up," said Cephe Place, Sales and Outreach Coordinator. The story relates what the young solicitor, Arthur Kipps, experiences when he travels to a remote small English coast village to attend a client's funeral and organize her estate. At the funeral, he sees the Woman in Black, a menacing ghost that haunts the area and is set on vengeance.

The mystery "The Woman in Black" by Stephen Mallatratt is based on the story by Susan Hill. For more information about the program, please go to Wayside Theatre's website www.waysidetheatre.org and click on "Read a Book, See It Live."
