Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter, actress, and composer Melissa Manchester returns to The Barns at Wolf Trap with her vast catalogue of sentimental pop tunes and smooth romantic ballads spanning from the early '70s to today. Boasting 35 years of experience as an entertainer and master of several different performance genres, Manchester's classic, sultry voice and intimate performance style have been the catalyst for the majority of her widespread success. Her songs have been recorded by Barbra Streisand, Alison Krauss, Roberta Flack, Johnny Mathis, and many others. Manchester has also had starring roles acting and singing on stage in Andrew Lloyd Webber's Song and Dance and Music of the Night. Her invaluable contributions to the performing arts stretch beyond genre-defining boundaries and have earned her a place as one of the most influential and versatile performers of the past four decades.

After more than 25 years, Saffire-The Uppity Blues Women say goodbye with a farewell tour featuring songs from their final recording, Havin' the Last Word (2009), The Barns at Wolf Trap will host this sassy, inventive group as they perform the last metro D.C.-area dates of their celebrated career. Fans can expect classic songs rife with humor and poignancy such as "Too Much Butt" (a tribute to all plus-size women), "Walkin' Home to You" (a ballad about returning to a loved one), and "Bald Headed Blues" (Gaye Adegbalola's song about surviving cancer and treatment). Throughout their career, these established blues music icons have shared the stage with blues music greats B.B. King, Ray Charles, and Willie Dixon. With their modern acoustic sound, entertaining stage presence, and humorously clever lyrics, Saffire-The Uppity Blues Women will say farewell in style at The Barns.
