Photo Flash: First Look at Wolfbane Productions' THE PILLOWMAN
Wolfbane Productions, the innovative, non-profit theatre company based out of Appomattox, VA, is now debuting Lynchburg's premiere of Martin McDonagh's THE PILLOWMAN, onstage September 17-26, 2015.
From the writer who brought you In Bruges and Seven Psychopaths, Martin McDonagh's THE PILLOWMAN is set in a totalitarian state that will leave you questioning what is real and what is fiction. This gripping tale leads the audience through a writer's journey as he is interrogated for his creations, asking the spectator to examine what matters more: the story or the consequence? In keeping with its penchant for inventive staging, Wolfbane's production puts a twist on the traditional presentation of Martin McDonagh's THE PILLOWMAN by using puppetry to bring protagonist Katurian's stories to life.
Wolfbane has assembled a dynamic core of New York-based actors for this production. The leading role of the writer, Katurian, is played by Jeff Ronan, who has been seen Off-Broadway in Major Barbara and select New York works including The Mysteries, These Seven Sicknesses, and Sarah Flood in Salem Mass. George West Carruth, appearing on behalf of the Actors' Equity Association, is making his Wolfbane debut as the "bad cop" Ariel. A Lynchburg favorite, George has been seen in Endstation Theatre's productions of Counter/Top, Two Gentlemen of Virginia, Our Town, and Big River. Company members Hubbard Farr and James Vesey return to the Wolfbane stage to play "good cop" Tupolski and the writer's brother Michal.
Wolfbane Productions features an original set and puppetry by Christine Yepsen, costume design by Marian van Noppen, technical direction by Michael Chagnon, and stage direction by Wolfbane Founder and Producing Artistic Director, Dustin Williams.
