LTC Holds Second Day Of Auditions For SPOON RIVER ANTHOLOGY 10/31

By:

Edgar Lee Master's Spoon River Anthology Auditions: Who knew Folk could have this much fun

Director Laura Schier invites you on a journey beyond life in this unique staging of Edgar Lee Masters', "Spoon River Anthology". Via musical interludes, we are introduced in a cemetery to the ghosts of those who were inhabitants of this town, and whose secrets have gone with them to the grave. Both the solid and humorous sides of life are portrayed, with fetching ballads, and the free verse form of Masters.

Audition Information

Ensemble cast of 4 - 9 actors and actresses of varying age and diversity. Each will play several different characters throughout the show. Each actor/actress must be able to create the voices and mannerisms necessary for characters ranging in age from 15 - 70

Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script - as well as improvisational games to show characterization skills.

Ensemble Choir of 3 - 4 men and women. Looking for men and women who can create their own harmony and blend well with others in the ensemble. Not looking for Broadway style singers - songs are based off traditional Folk songs

You do not need to come prepared with a song as a short Folk song will be taught. We will be looking for improvisational harmony skills, and blend of voices.

When: October 31, from 9- 12am
Where: Thomas Balche Library
208 W Market St
Leesburg, VA 20176-2709
(703) 737-7195

Please note: While you may audition for both ensembles, you cannot be cast in both. They are separate entities in and of themselves, and work as a team to create the overall show.

Performances will be held on January 23(evening), 24(matinee), 29(evening), and 30th (evening & matinee) at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Loudoun.

If you need any further information about auditions or Spoon River Anthology, please contact the director at laura.m.schier@gmail.com
