Firehouse Theatre Presents WAIT UNTIL DARK, Now thru 10/18
Susy Hendrix lives her life in the dark... but she's about to find out just how dark it can get. This fallFirehouse Theatrepresents the thriller from the author of Dial "M" for Murder, Wait Until Dark by Frederick Knott. Directed by Helen Hayes Award winner and Richmond Theatre Critics Circle Award nominee David Emerson Toney ('night, Mother), Wait Until Dark will play 15 performances, today, September 18 - October 18, 2014. Opening Night is Friday, September 19.
"The play of Wait Until Dark is more than a thriller," says director David Emerson Toney. "It is a primal odyssey of survival. A journey that enables the heroine to discover her true self."
An apartment in 1970's Greenwich Village becomes the site of theatre's most terrifying game of cat and mouse. Desperate to reclaim a mysterious doll stuffed with illegal drugs, con man Roat, played by two-time Helen Hayes Award nominee Frank Britton, lays a trap to ensnare recently blinded Susy Hendrix, played by Ciara McMillian (The Color Purple). With the help of his criminal cohorts (Nicklas Aliff, Phillip Silva) and a few clever disguises, he spins a tale to fool the innocent and unsuspecting woman. But when the doll can't be found, the situation spirals out of control. Starring Saidu Tejan-Thomas, Victoria Eriavez, Jordan Jones and Andrew Reid, Wait Until Dark proves that what you can't see can most definitely hurt you.
Wait Until Dark features costume design by Margarette Joyner, scenic design by Edwin Slipek, sound design by RTCC Award winner Joey Luck, light design by Geno Brantley, and fight choreography by Alexis Black and Brandon Sterrett.
