ALL ROLES OPEN!
Bring resume with head shot stapled back to back!
Prepare and bring sheet music (32 measures) of an up tempo musical theater piece
(no ballads, no rock, no acapella). An accompanist will be provided.
Be prepared to dance and bring tap shoes if available.

This production will encompass much of the original staging and
choreography by Susan Stroman. Rehearsals begin o/a September 6, 2016.
Must be available for all performances and all of tech week (as of 11/4).

Character Descriptions
Frederick: (late 20’s-30’s) Bari Tenor. Excellent comedic skills + physical comedy.
Good movement/dance skills as well. A somewhat introverted man who becomes
more comfortable with his family history and comes to embrace it as play progresses.

The Monster: (late 20’s-mid 50’s) Baritone with ability to scat sing
as well as intone a classic operatic style when needed. Actor must be 6’+.
Requires good comedic timing and do broad physical comedy.
Good movement needed. Heavy “Frankenstein” make up will be required to wear.

Igor: (mid 20’s-50) Tenor. Needs to be a real showman with vaudeville
“song and dance man” skills. Think Jimmy Durante/Milton Berle. Good w/physical
comedy and strong mover/dancer. Great comic chops and timing required for this role!

Inga: (early to late 20’s) Mezzo w/Yodeling skills. Slight Eastern European accent.
On surface she appears innocent and naïve, but has a burning sensuality
beneath that. Strong dance skills and good comedic timing.

Elizabeth: (late 20’s-30’s) Big alto belt w/great range. Frederick’s fiancée.
Always on the prowl for the “next guy”. She has been around the block
a couple of times! Solid comedic skills and timing, and decent
movement/dance skills. Don’t be afraid to think Madeline Kahn!

Frau Blucher(naaaah!): (40-50) Strong Alto w/range. The “mistress” of the castle.
She had a torrid relationship with Frederick’s grandfather years back–
“He vas her Boyfriend”. Requires strong comedic character actress with vocal chops and
good movement/dance skills as well. Has slight European accent (a la Marlene Dietrich).

Inspector Kemp/The Hermit: (40-60) Actor will double in both roles.
Strong baritone w/big belt skills. Requires good ability for physical comedy
and strong timing. Decent movement skills. Euro accent!

Victor: (40’s+) Strong baritone for cameo role who will also
be in ensemble. Frederick’s grandfather’s ghost. Commands the stage
in “Join The Family Business”. Decent movement skills.

The show will also feature a large ensemble of various age ranges(16+)
and types able to sing and move well. BUSY ENSEMBLE SHOW
appears in 12 musical segments and have featured cameos!
