HAIRSPRAY - Music Theater Works - North Shore Center in Skokie IL Non Equity Auditions

Music Theater Works is looking to fill the tracks of Motormouth & Dynamites for our upcoming production of Hairspray. The creative team consists of Keely Vasquez (Director), Reneisha Jenkins (Choreographers), and Linda Madonia (Music Director).

NOTE ON CASTING:

The show’s heart lies in its message of inclusivity and racial integration. Casting should reflect this intentionally. Roles such as the Von Tussles are traditionally white, and roles like Motormouth, Seaweed and Little Inez are black performers, as race is integral to the story.

Motormouth Maybelle - Owner of a downtown shop and mother of Seaweed and Little Inez. Warm personality and unshakable integrity. Gender: Female presenting Vocal range:E3 to E5 (strong gospel/popbelt) Age: 30s-50s

The Dynamites - The Dynamites are a talented vocal trio who are featured in many numbers and usually in tight harmony. Gender: Female presenting Vocal ranges: Soprano, Mezzo and Alto

- First Rehearsal: Sunday, Nov 13th

- Spacing: Wednesday, December 9th

- Tech Rehearsals: Wednesday, December 9th, through Sunday, December 13th

- Final Dress: Tuesday, December 15th at 7:00pm

- Preview with notes: Wednesday, December 16th at 2:00pm, and Thursday, December 17th at 7:00pm

- Understudy Rehearsal: Post Matinee on Tue 12/22

- Performance: Fri 12/18 at 7:00pm; Sat 12/19 at 2:00pm; Sun 12/20 at 2:00pm; Tue 12/22 at 7:00pm; Wed 12/23 at 2:00pm; Sat 12/26 at 2:00pm and 7:00pm; Sun 12/27 at 2:00pm; Wed 12/30 at 2:00pm; Thur 12/31 at 2:00pm; Sat 01/02 at 2:00pm and 7:00pm; Sun 01/03 at 2:00pm
