Rehearsals:

Rehearsals begin on Sunday September 8th from 6-10pm
Rehearsals will be on Sundays, Mondays, & Thursdays from 7-10
Prepare: Vocals-Prepare a selection from The Wedding Singer: The Musical, 32 bars in length. (Piano accompaniment only). or sing An Uptempo or Balad, 32 bars in length, stay within the genre of the show. Music in a Rock/Pop genre from the 1980’s (Recorded music for this selection will be accepted for this selection only). Absolutely no vocals on the track. Please come familiar with the music from the show as you may be asked to sing on the spot. An accompanist will be provided. Dance: Standard, 1980's Dance Style. Training in Jazz Dance is encouraged. A combination will be taught to you, no need to prepare a piece. Please bring a current headshot and performance resume. Along with any conflicts, vacations etc. You must be able to make all performances to be cast.
Big ensemble with a lot of great small parts – all ages and all types needed.
Ages 18 and Up are invited to audition for this show. All auditioners will be considered for all parts. Dancers and non-Dancers are needed. Strong Male Singer/Actor and Guitarist for the Role of Robbie.

If you play an instrument (guitar or bass – piano will be provided), please bring it to the audition and show us your skills. If you can break dance or have other strong 80’s dance ability let us know! If you want to try out for one of the impersonators, be ready to show us your best imitation!

SHOW INFORMATION – THE WEDDING SINGER In THE WEDDING SINGER, it's 1985 and rock-star wannabe Robbie Hart is New Jersey's favorite wedding singer. He's the life of the party, until his own fiancee leaves him at the altar. Shot through the heart, Robbie makes every wedding as disastrous as his own. Then when he meets Julia, an admiring young waitress, Robbie falls madly in love. Only trouble is Julia is about to be married to a Wall Street shark, and unless Robbie can pull off the performance of a decade, the girl of his dreams will be gone forever. With a score that pays loving homage to the pop songs of the 1980s, The Wedding Singer takes us back to a time when hair was big, greed was good, collars were up, and a wedding singer might just be the coolest guy in the room.

Special Notes:
Some roles require minimal to no dancing, while others are very dance heavy.
There are 6-10 roles for well trained dancers.

Role Description-Principals
Robbie Hart: (Lead) a musician and lead singer for a trio that plays for weddings, great comedic timing and very charismatic, ability to play basic guitar ("Grow Old With You" and"Somebody Kill Me" will be played live), strong singer, rock tenor, low B to high A to high C (optional strong falsetto).

Sammy: (Lead) Robbie’s friend and guitarist for the trio, not terribly bright but means well and is supportive, a typical “Jersey” man’s man, rock star wannabe, ability to play guitar preferred but not an absolute requirement, basic movement required, singer, baritone to high F.

GEORGE: (Lead) strong character singer who can rap and has good falsetto, should be a strong mover, plays keyboard for the trio (piano is not a requirement), Boy George type, baritone to high F (strong falsetto).

Julia: (Lead) strong singer, with good movement ability, sweet and innocent but quirky, a waitress who longs to be married and live the perfect married life, soprano/belt mix, low G to E.

Holly: (Lead) must have strong movement ability, and a unique voice with a strong belt, must be a strong actor with great comedic timing, Julia’s cousin, very uninhibited and forward, based on Madonna, pop belt to middle E.

Glen: (Lead) Julia’s fiancé, a calculating, money-loving Wall Street type, probably a former frat bro, slimy, strong acting skills, requires singing and basic movement, baritone, to high G.

Rosie: (Supporting) Robbie’s sweet and spicey, but totally loveable grandmother, must have great comic timing and a singing voice that suits both classic musical theatre and rap, basic movement required, mezzo Soprano that can rap.

Linda: (Supporting) Robbie’s trashy, oversexed girlfriend, Pat Benatar type, strong belt voice and dancing required, rock belt to middle D. This role will double for other roles in the show, including an Imelda Marcos impersonator.

*All these parts are featured roles and cameos. The performer who plays each part will also be heavily used in the ensemble.

ANGIE – Mezzo - Julia’s Mom. Has a few solo singing lines and has dialogue.

Ensemble – All vocal ranges accepted. Roles will be party guests (different weddings and events), Mall shoppers, Club dancers and so much more. There is a TON of characters that the ensemble will be playing. Not all ensemble members have to dance in every number. We will find the strength in everyone’s abilities and showcase them. There are featured dancers in each of the numbers as well
