About
An intimate and touching show, featuring music by Jerry Bock and Sheldon Harnick (Fiddler on the Roof) and book by Joe Masteroff (Cabaret), She Loves Me was nominated for five Tony Awards in 1964. The 1993 Broadway revival won the Olivier Award for Best Musical Revival, the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Revival of a Musical and the 1994 Critics Circle Award for Best Musical, while the 2016 Broadway Revival snagged the Tony Award for Best Scenic Design (beating Hamilton!). Considered by many to be the most charming musical ever written, She Loves Me is a warm romantic comedy with an endearing innocence and a touch of old-world elegance. The Mikos Lazlos play Parfuemerie, on which it is based, has inspired many adaptations, including the beloved film You've Got Mail starring Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks.
Audition Process
Candidates should prepare a 32 bar (one-minute) cut of a song similar to the show. Please provide tracks or have links to tracks (with marked times) as there will be no accompanist. You can upload your track or provide a link to it in the audition form linked below.
Additionally, candidates should either perform a prepared monologue or be prepared to participate in a cold reading from the script.
Rehearsals
Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday evenings, 6-9 PM. Tech week is Sunday November 26, 2023 through Thursday, November 30, 2023. No conflicts tech week or show dates.
Roles
All roles are non-Equity; no pay, no fee. ACT1 Theater encourages diversity when casting shows and encourages all interested actors to audition. Depending on the pool of candidates, we may limit casting to actors 18 and older.
Arpad Laszlo
Delivery boy at Maraczek's Parfumerie. His exuberance is infectious and commitment to his job remarkable. He is ambitious and adorable.Gender: Male

Ladislav Sipos
Not the brightest employee at Maraczek's Parfumerie. A confidant to Georg, he is an optimistic family man who looks like a huggable father.

Employed at Maraczek's Parfumerie. She is sexy and learned in the ways of romance, but longing for something more from the game of love.

A well respected and liked employee at Maraczek's Parfumerie. Though he is considered dapper and occasionally charming, he is more of a shallow womanizer.
