PERFORMANCES: Friday, November 9, 2018 thru Saturday, December 8, 2018 (Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays with possible Wednesday and Thursdays)

SHOW DESCRIPTION:
She Loves Me, an intimate, warm, romantic comedy, has an endearing innocence and a touch of old world elegance. Set in a Hungarian parfumerie, it’s full of comic twists and turns; a journey of mistaken identity and letter writing where two feuding clerks have no idea that they are in love.

CAST REQUIREMENTS: (7, Males, 2 Females, 7 Ensemble (4 Female, 3 Male) – All ethnicities encouraged to audition)

Amalia Balash (Female, Lead, Soprano: Range: C4 – B5, to play 25-45): The extremely eager and smart new employee at Maraczek's Parfumerie, personable, but a tad shy. Despite being a skilled saleswoman, she easily becomes intimidated and nervous. A little too sharp for her own good? She’s a dreamer with the ability to take charge. Idealistic, bright, and a lover of art and literature.

Georg Nowack (Male, Lead, Baritone, Range: B2 – F4, to play 25-45): An established employee of Maraczek's Parfumerie, he resembles a hopeless romantic. Soft-spoken, well-read, appreciator of art, personable, and strong. Excitable, nervous, shy, and intelligent. Heretofore, unable to find a love. A respected colleague and citizen. Amalia’s work nemesis…but unknown Lonely Heart’s Club pen pal!

Ilona Ritter (Female, Supporting, Mezzo-Soprano Range: F#3 – E5, Dancer or Strong Mover, to play 35-50): The other saleswoman at Maraczek’s, she is experienced in both life and men. A bit weary, but kind, good-natured, sexy, and learned in the ways of romance, but longing for something more from the game of love. Burnt by Kodaly…consistently.

Steven Kodaly (Male, Supporting, High Baritone/Tenor Range: B2 – A4, Dancer or Strong Mover, to play 35-50): A handsome ladies’ man, and he knows it. Well-respected and liked employee at Maraczek's Parfumerie. While he is considered dapper and occasionally charming, he is more of a shallow womanizer with a charm that enables him to stay out of trouble.

Ladislav Sipos (Male, Supporting, Baritone Range: A2 – E4, to play 40+): Family man rooter in an unvaried existence. Very affable, a friend to all. Perhaps not the brightest employee at Maraczek's Parfumerie, but he is a loyal confidant to Georg and mentor to Arpad. He is optimistic and irresistibly loveable.

Mr. Maraczek (Male, Supporting, Baritone, Range: B2 – C4, to play 50+): Owner of Maraczek's Parfumerie, with a commanding presence. A distinguished, disciplined businessman, who is also a stubborn perfectionist. He runs a tight ship, but he also is able to be among the workers, and loves romance and dancing. His dedication to the trade is rivaled only by his faithfulness to his wife.

Arpad Laszlo (Male/Possibly Female, Supporting, Tenor, Range: Bb2 – E4, to play 18 -25): Bright, innocent, young delivery boy at Maraczek's Parfumerie. His exuberance is infectious and commitment to his job remarkable. He is ambitious, studious, and downright adorable.

Headwaiter (Male, Featured, Tenor/Bari–Tenor, to play 35+:) The Headwaiter of the Café Imperiale, a proud man with a singular goal— to create a “romantic atmosphere.” A persnickety, flamboyant manager who runs a tight ship and expects discretion and efficiency for his patrons. This is a comedic role and perfect for the actor who specializes in comedy, especially through facial expressions and timing.

Busboy (Featured Ensemble, to play 18+, Dancer/Mover): A klutzy busboy at the Café Imperiale, who inadvertently disrupts the romance in more ways than one…finding himself in compromising situations among the patrons. Comic timing a must!

Mr. Keller (Male, Featured Ensemble to play 25+): A private investigator with an important finding for Mr. Maraczek.

Featured Ensemble: Four women and two men. Customers and patrons of Maraczek’s Parfumerie, the Café Imperiale, and the Christmas Carolers.

A read-through and costume fitting will be Sunday, June 24 at 6pm. Rehearsals will start September 4, generally Monday-Thursday at 7pm-10pm, occasional Sundays, with some summer rehearsal based on availability for Kodaly and Illona (dance/music), and George and Amalia (music.staging). Cast will be given music and scripts to learn over the summer.

Sides from the script will be made available at the audition. All roles available. Casting is open to all. Ethnicities, races, and newcomers are especially welcomed. Crew and other volunteers are also needed for the event. For more information or directions, call 845-353-1313 or visit
