Please prepare a 32 bar selection of a contemporary theatre ballad

CHARACTER BREAKDOWNS:

MRS. JONES: FEMALE, Late 50's, Alto/Mezzo Soprano-Must be able to Belt to a Bb, expected range: F3-E5 -Loves her adult daughter(Hope)who is getting married while at the same time grappling with a serious illness which she eventually surcums to. Strong, defiant, determined yet nurturing, loving,and protective.

HELEN:FEMALE, Early to mid 20's, Alto/Mezzo Soprano -Must be able to Belt to a C, expected range A3-F5 -Finds out she is pregnant after a one night stand with an old classmate (Peter) and makes the hard decision to walk away from career/lifeto marry and raise the baby.Frustrated yet determined, feels trapped, conflicted and confused but turns towards being hopeful.

PETER: MALE, Early to mid20's, Baritone, expected range G2-G4 (being able to play guitar would be a plus but isn't necessary) -Finds out he is a father after a one night stand with an old classmate (Helen) and is determined to make the new family work by marrying Helen. Hopeful, loving, compassionate, caring, is an all or nothing kind of guy that never gives up on what he knows is right.

HOPE: FEMALE, Late 20's, Soprano, expected range A3-A5 -Is getting married and excited to plan the event to only find out later that her mother (Mrs. Jones) has been diagnosed with a terminal illness. Hopeful and lighthearted at first, but as the show progresses becomes emotionally desperate and heartbroken.
